Port City Architecture (PCA), a respected and innovative firm located in the East End of Portland, is seeking a highly motivated and passionate full-time entry-level Architectural Designer.
About Us
Since our founding in 1989, Port City Architecture has been dedicated to constructing the optimum form, function, and financial value for every building we have designed. We are a ten-person firm of architects / designers of mixture of ages. Public safety and higher education projects are our focus but we also have a mixture of laboratory, commercial, retail, and residential projects. In fact, our dedication was recently recognized when PCA was awarded the “Most Innovative Public Safety and Commercial Architecture Practice 2024—Northeast USA” by BUILD Magazine, a testament to our innovative and forward-thinking approach.

We are looking for somebody that would enjoy being an active part of the team during all phases of construction including programming, construction documents, and monitoring the construction process to completion. We work hard to provide all the staff projects at their level and will provide them with the appropriate support to allow the applicant to grow and become an architect.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Use creative skills and drafting techniques to create construction documents with guidance from project leads
- Complete redlines from project leads, which involves reviewing and implementing architectural drawing changes, communicating with team members, and site visits to collect measurements and dimensions
- Collaborate and consult with the project team, including engineers, construction managers, and field crews, to support the design and construction efforts
Required education and experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in architecture (minimum)
- Proficient in AutoCAD – this is the primary software used
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Revit and Sketchup experience are a bonus
