C. H. Nickerson & Company, Inc. is currently searching for a Project Engineer. The candidate will be working out of our main office in Torrington, CT and/or a project located in CT, MA or RI.
The Project Engineer will work under the supervision of the senior project engineer and/or a project manager. The primary responsibilities of the Project Engineer will include the following:
• Shop Drawings: Scheduling, coordinating and detailed review of submittals to meet the needs of the construction schedule and contract requirements. Coordinating work of suppliers and subcontractors with that of other trades to eliminate problems in the field installations. Maintain transmittal log with updated information for review and distribution at job meetings.
• CPM Schedules: Assist in developing project CPM schedules and maintaining updated information for distribution to all project personnel. Review of scheduling needs to coordinate with shop drawing processing and material orders. Understanding the CPM updates will require periodic job site visits to review actual work in progress with project superintendent and subcontractors.
• Requests for Information: Submit questions to architect/engineer for prompt responses. Log information for publication in a format for distribution and review at project meetings.
• Changes: Identify to the project manager any changes made during submittal process and other correspondence for establishing Field Files. Work with project manager in developing cost proposals and communicating changes to effected suppliers and subcontractors for coordination.
• General Correspondence: Maintain communication chain of correspondence with owners, architect/engineers, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Job Meetings: Attend job meetings with project manager. Project Engineer must be informed on the job subjects and be prepared to discuss with other project representatives.
• General Duties: Assist the project manager and/or other project engineers with any requirements necessary to administer and complete the project.
• Procurement: Solicit pricing and buy-out of miscellaneous items. Expedite material and equipment as needed by the construction schedule.
