Job Description
Needed: A motivated engineering student excited about being part of a team responsible for prototyping the next big Bose innovations. The Rapid Design Engineering group fuels the Concept Prototyping engine at Bose. We are a small but versatile team that is looking for a motivated co-op who can complement the organization with a broad technical skillset. We’re looking for someone who can generate creative ideas and take initiative to make them a reality. This individual needs to thrive in a fun and fast-paced environment. This is a mechanical engineering role, and requires experience in designing, experimenting and building. The ideal candidate would have fundamental understanding of adjacent disciplines (materials, electrical, software, etc.).
Responsibilities:
- Be a part of a small interdisciplinary team of engineers and designers to design and build quick turn prototypes for internal Bose customers
- Collaborate with various disciplines and functions to produce works-like, looks-like, feels-like, sounds-like models of Bose product concepts
- Develop proof-of-concept models to demonstrate and test future Bose innovations and experiences
- Quickly turn concepts into physical parts utilizing our internal rapid prototyping capabilities including machining, waterjet/laser cutting, welding, 3D printing, molding, etc.
- Employ the engineering design process to rapidly design, iterate, test and optimize parts and assemblies
- Combine knowledge of CAD with fabrication methods to create fixtures, model parts, and anything else you want to make—be creative!
- Bring a friendly, positive attitude to work, with the ability to comfortably interact with many different types of people all day every day on a personal and professional level
- Take a hands-on approach to building prototypes and making improvements to the Rapid Prototyping area
