The Maintenance and Facilities Engineering Co-Op will assist in engineering support for maintenance and reliability of heavy forging presses, furnaces, material handling systems, plant facilities, process, and auxiliary equipment. This role combines hands-on work in a heavy industrial environment with data-driven analysis to implement improvements that enhance safety, efficiency, product quality, and reliability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support for maintenance and engineering teams with field measurements and data collection related to heavy equipment and auxiliary systems
- Assist in implementation of developing repair plans, modification drawings, and improvements for Capital Expense and Variable Cost projects
- Perform data mining and analysis of downtime, cost, and equipment performance data for identifying trends, energy usage, and optimization opportunities
- Participate in root cause analysis, preventative maintenance planning, safety, and reliability improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and plant engineering staff to resolve equipment performance issues
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and equipment drawings as required
- Participate in job hazard assessments, OSHA, Commonwealth of Mass., and safety policy compliance
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES:
- Work with engineers to prepare, coordinate and maintain schedules for extended production outages and major maintenance work.
- Attend regular departmental meetings.
- Attend training sessions, symposiums and other appropriate educational opportunities.
- Take ownership and responsibility for identified projects.
- Participate in project teams for assigned projects
- Work within specifications provided to meet project goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Industrial or field settings including heights, confined spaces, and areas with exposure to wet, dirty, and oily conditions
- Variable indoor and outdoor temperature environments
