The Department of Science seeks a co-op student to provide technical assistance to students and support to faculty and staff in the chemistry laboratories. The co-op student will be responsible for learning and understanding all of the instructional experiments in order to best instruct students and provide assistance to the faculty. Primary responsibilities include setting up, overseeing, and testing instructional experiments with additional effort toward lab maintenance, which includes clean-up, dishwashing, equipment maintenance, and the proper disposal of chemical waste. Participation in all aspects of laboratory safety, including conducting weekly inspections of the facilities is mandatory. This co-op student must follow all guidelines outlined in the chemical hygiene plan as well as laboratory safety plans. Finally this co-op student is required to attend all training and meetings for each course or those related to safety.
An additional option includes the flexibility to participate in independent projects pending approval from a faculty advisor.

Additional key responsibilities will include diligent adherence to and enforcement of additional PPE and behavioral modifications to control the spread of COVID-19.
The majority of the responsibilities for this position will require the hire to be present in-person, but some amount of remote work may be arranged.
