Employee Tech is Wayfair’s IT Department. The team is on a mission to constantly challenge the status quo to provide an exceptional end-user experience. The team partners with stakeholders across the organization to create and deliver flexible solutions that empower our desktop & development computing environments, in-office tech, back-end applications, and cloud services. We are looking for Co-ops for: IT AV Tech Co-ops, IT Onboarding Co-ops, and Service Desk Co-ops. Please see the specific job descriptions below. Co-ops are expected to work in person at Wayfair’s Boston headquarters 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
Our IT Engineering department is looking for dynamic, hardworking and talented students to join us on our fun, dynamic, and collaborative team. As a Wayfair Employee Technology Co-op, you will dive right into a number of complex technical projects while also gaining a better understanding of our business. Coming in you will have the opportunity to join the Employee Tech team. Below are the specific job descriptions.
IT Onboarding Co-op
At Wayfair, we are looking to grow and develop a team that handles new employee onboarding by bringing on meticulous, hard-working individuals, who are looking for entry-level experience in corporate IT. Individuals will gain experience in technologies and operations that support our infrastructure and our remarkable employees. What You’ll Do | Responsibilities
- Physically deploy new hire hardware setups throughout for the office, troubleshooting problems along the way
- Participate in corporate and virtual new hire orientations, partnering with Wayfair’s trainers to provide the best possible new hire experience.
- Physically ship new hire hardware kits
- Collaborate effectively with multiple cross-functional teams and departments
- Manage inventory and stock of necessary computer hardware and peripheral accessories
- Fulfill software requests via Active Directory, SCCM, JAMF, and remote assistance (prior experience a plus)
- Communicate with end-users and co-workers frequently and effectively across multiple platforms and mediums (email, instant messaging, phone, ticket updates, virtual orientations and in-person)
- Help seek out and implement improvements to deliver better service to our hiring managers and their new hires via projects and processes
- Assist Wayfair employees with their technical issues by resolving via a ticketing system or phone call in partnership with other IT teams located in the warehouse, call center and corporate offices
What You’ll Need:
Basic Qualifications:
- Current Sophomore, Junior, or Senior student pursuing an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (eg. marketing, business, analytics) with a 3.0 GPA minimum
- Must be returning to the course of study following completion of the Co-op
- Ability to commit to working 40 hours/week (9am-5pm, Monday-Friday) from January 6 to June 20, 2025 in our Boston office
- You must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by Wayfair now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelors in Computer Science, Communications, Computer Engineering, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, Economics, Management or other quantitative discipline field with strong academic record.
- Ability to use critical problem-solving skills to think fast, prioritize work, and pivot on daily tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to communicate effectively across various platforms
- Prior experience troubleshooting issues within the IT process is a plus
Service Desk Co-op
As a Service Desk Engineer, you will play a critical role in providing direct technical assistance to Wayfair’s global employee user base via ticket, email and remote support interactions, while maintaining a persistent point of contact between business and technology staff. You will be part of a team that also plays a crucial role in handling and resolving complex technical issues in the areas of product functionality, architecture, and defect correction by achieving proficiency across Wayfair’s expansive internal software toolset.
What You’ll Do | Responsibilities
- Provide first level support to Wayfair employees for all IT-related concerns and technologies such as: Windows/MAC OS, G Suite Apps, Active Directory, JAMF and our own proprietary software
- Collaborate effectively with multiple cross-functional teams and departments
- Prioritize and evaluate a variety of technical issues
- Balance resolution of multiple access/service requests in a timely manner
- Ensure proper recording, documentation, and closure of tickets
- Recommend procedure modifications or improvements
- Triage, resolve, and escalate issues to appropriate teams
- Error replication and initial troubleshooting
- Support users via face to face interactions and/or via tickets
- Lifting heavy equipment up to 65lbs. (monitors, desktops, printers) and setting up desks (cables, network drops)

Collaboration AV Tech Co-op
At Wayfair, the AV Collaboration Operations team is looking to grow and develop our team that handles Wayfair’s Global AV strategy as well as the collaboration technologies that support our employees. We are looking to bring on hard-working, detail oriented individuals, who are looking for entry-level experience in the corporate IT field. Our space encompasses everything from the software our employees use for video conferencing (Google Meet, Zoom,digital signage,virtual whiteboarding with jamboard or miro, etc.) to the hardware that enables our employees to collaborate (video conferencing hardware, TVs, microphones, video walls, etc).
New team members will gain experience in technologies that promote efficiency and productivity for Wayfair employees to work with one another. You will also gain insights to the operational workflows that support our infrastructure and employee requests.
What You’ll Do | Responsibilities
- Provide for all AV / IT-related concerns and technologies such as: Conference room hardware/software, event/meeting support needs, Chrome OS / Windows endpoints, TVs, Projectors, etc.
- Perform routine sweeps of our environment and document any issues
- Troubleshoot existing hardware and coordinate assets for repairs or e-wasting
- Manage assets by deploying, configuring, and maintaining equipment and complete inventory new and existing hardware
- Lifting heavy equipment (TVs, mounts, VC gear) and installing them using power tools and other duties
- Manage incoming emails, phone calls, chat messages, walkups via our ticketing system.
- Seek out and implement ways to make Wayfair Systems and Processes more efficient
- Create and maintain employee and tech documentation
- Troubleshoot and support Ethernet networks that support our AV/Collab technologies (scheduling displays, conf room machines, conf room phones, etc.)

- Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills – willingness to work as part of a large group
- An analytical, creative, and innovative approach to solving problems
- Self-sufficient yet still able to ask for help when needed.
- An interest in working hard and being challenged in a fast-paced environment, and having fun while doing it
- Team Player, willing to share knowledge and pitch in wherever needed.
- Experience in a helpdesk or other service-oriented IT role
- Experience in AV productions and or any AV / video conferencing related tech is a plus
Wayfair Co-Op Program Overview
Based in Wayfair’s Boston headquarters, our co-op program is a six-month, full-time, paid program that runs twice annually in January to June and July to December. Through the co-op program, students have the opportunity to gain impactful professional experience in their major or career field of interest by fully integrating with Wayfair business units.
