Position Summary:
The Estimating-intern will work closely with other members of the Estimating Department Team to support the pre-construction phase, perform bid, proposal and budget preparation, assist with value engineering for ongoing projects and support subcontractor/vendor relations.

Reports To: Chief Estimator/ Senior VP of Estimating
Status: Full Time, Hourly
Responsibilities:
· Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures including reporting all accidents, incidents and near-misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value – Safety first, in everything we do.
· Develop and implement a safe work environment
· Maintain a safe workplace and ensure best practices
· Developing and executing safety plans
· Comply with company policies while following safety practices and procedures
· Work as an integral part of our Estimating team to perform plan and specification analysis, takeoff and pricing of road, bridge, marine and other heavy/civil projects with values from $5 million to $400 million
· Work with subcontractors and vendors to define scope, and perform subcontractor and vendor analysis
· Assist with all Estimating functions for Lump Sum, Design/Build and Unit Price projects
· Assist with the budgeting, purchasing and cost functions
Qualifications:
Civil Engineering or Construction Management major
Prior co-op experience in construction preferred
Strong computer skills
Experience with Heavy-bid estimating software preferred
Experience with computerized takeoff and/or design programs
