High Reliability Manufacturing Engineer – Co-Op

Microchip’s Discrete Products Group (DPG) offers one of the industry’s most comprehensive power and RF/microwave discrete semiconductor product portfolios. Microchip DPG encompasses two Business Units (BUs), Power Discrete & Modules and RF/Microwave Discretes. Markets that the PDM & RF/MW Discretes BU’s address include:  alternative energy, industrial, medical, defense, commercial aviation, communications, embedded systems, motor control, power solutions, sensors and security.  

Summary

Microchip DPG’s Co-Op program has an exciting opportunity to work with our High Reliability Manufacturing Engineering teams.  Our co-op program is designed to give you real-world engineering responsibilities and actively contribute amongst a variety of engineering disciplines and role functions which may involve design, manufacturing, materials, production, and process engineering. During your co-op program, you will have ownership of at least one large project or two to three smaller projects that will contribute to improving manufacturing performance. You will have the experience-rich opportunity to assist our engineers with other assignments.  At the end of the program, you will close out your project(s) by documenting your work and giving a presentation to the engineering team:  your initial program expectations, a summary of your project work, and feedback regarding your overall experience with the co-op program.

Other responsibilities may include:

Develop & maintain test plans and test programs
Ensure WCM concepts are pursued vigorously; implement and/or support continuous improvement programs; coordinate and support Corrective Actions, as necessary
Understand and implement Microchip Lawrence’s Quality Manual and related in-house procedures as they apply to assigned processes and new products
Perform in-depth & controlled studies of specific/chronic problems, processes, and yield improvements, etc. as required and specify corrective/preventative action as appropriate
Understand Government Specifications as they apply to assigned products and processes
Provide engineering support to Production and other departments
Contribute to projects to automate various manual tests where applicable
Implement and/or support Prime Cost Reduction programs, and yield improvement programs
Evaluate raw materials, suppliers, sources and qualify for use
Support in-house training programs
Adhere to Health & Safety standards and policies
Take on other product/engineering duties as required and assigned
