Job Title: CT Imaging Engineer

Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Position Type: Full-Time
Level: BS, MS, or PhD (Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related field)

About the Role

Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and talented CT Imaging Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing the next generation of computed tomography (CT) systems. This position offers a unique opportunity for an engineer of any experience level to contribute to a cutting-edge research program at the intersection of medical imaging, computational modeling, and machine learning.

This position is ideal for engineers or scientists who are passionate about medical imaging and eager to grow their expertise in a collaborative research environment. The individual will work closely with senior investigators and receive direct mentorship while contributing to high-impact research with the potential to influence future clinical practice.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and refine CT simulation and image reconstruction algorithms, integrating physics-based models with modern computational tools
  • Design and train deep learning models for medical image enhancement, reconstruction, or analysis
  • Conduct hands-on experiments with novel CT system prototypes and evaluate their performance
  • Characterize image quality through phantom scanning, data analysis, and optimization studies
  • Collaborate closely with a team of experts, including mentorship from experienced imaging scientists and engineers
  • Contribute to research publications, software development, and potential clinical translation

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in one or more of the following:
    • Image processing algorithms
    • Deep learning (PyTorch preferred)
    • Imaging instrumentation
    • Medical imaging or medical physics
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with C++ and CUDA
  • Familiarity with CT reconstruction algorithms or X-ray imaging principles
