About the Role
JB&B invites current Mechanical Engineering majors to take part in the Co-op Program in one of our offices. This Co-op program starts in January 2025. Students looking for experience in design engineering are encouraged to apply!
During your Co-Op, you will be exposed to a wide breadth of project types, varying in size and duration. You will work as part of a project team, collaborating with colleagues to provide our clients with progressive design solutions. You will gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to the firm. Throughout your semester or academic year, you will receive exceptional training through our JB&B University training program as well as frequent coaching and mentoring from colleagues on your teams.
You will be selected to join either the HVAC or Plumbing & Fire Protections (PFP) departments. As a member of the either department, you will be on a collaborative team and gain experience in:
- AutoCAD and Revit programs to design and draw riser diagrams, schedules, and floor plans.
- Visiting project sites for surveys, punch list walkdowns, and design reviews.
- Assembling documents for issue by JB&B’s standards through the use of design guidelines and checklists.
If on the HVAC team, you will be working on:
- Distribution, recirculation, and exhaust of HVAC systems in a facility
- Facility/plant utilities such as chilled water, heating water, plant steam, and condensate.
If on the PFP team, you will be working on:
- Distribution of water, gas, and waste systems in a facility.
- Laying out the sprinkler systems and performing basic calculations for pipe sizing, design densities, and pump horsepower.
