Job Summary
The NPD Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of manufacturing process technologies for the development of new electromechanical products in the Diabetes care space. This position has the responsibility to support the NPD manufacturing team to implement manufacturing equipment, processes, and technologies to be used during the development/prototype phase of Class II medical devices. This includes setting up manufacturing equipment, performing process development, conducting DOEs, and supporting process and test method validations.
In addition, this role will support root cause investigations and manufacturing process improvements by having direct responsibility for daily line support within the ISO 8 clean room. The Andover, MA site has a unique charter as the start-up platform for new products and equipment. This position will serve a critical role in the success of the operation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports daily manufacturing of prototype product within the Andover site clean room
- Characterization of prototype equipment and pilot processes in support of new product development
- Utilizes 3D modeling software (Solidworks preferred) to design manufacturing assembly fixtures and aids.
- Work with internal and external resources in the development of manual assembly processes including, setting up equipment, process development, and validation
- Participate in root cause efforts, troubleshoot equipment issues, and perform corrective actions
- Write and maintain manufacturing procedures and work instructions
· Participate in training, test methods validation, and execution of testing as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· One year of education in a Mechanical engineering program is required, 2 or more years is preferred.
· Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is a must
· Knowledge of SolidWorks, or Minitab software programs is preferred
