SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Engineering Co-Op is responsible for working with engineers to help them with design and manufacturing improvement projects.  They will provide technical assistance and support in the performance of all functions of the Engineering Department under the direction of the Engineering Manager. 

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Mechanical and Electro/Mechanical.
  • Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering.
  • Participate in tests, troubleshooting, and most engineering areas as required by supervisor.
  • Investigate opportunities to increase production throughput.
  • Document existing and new engineering and manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct verification and validation testing by collecting several types of data under the direction of the appropriate product engineer.
  • Compile test data and compose test reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or may be necessary to maintain flow of work.
  • Evaluate manufacturing assembly, testing, and packaging activities relative to product lines.
  • Support the development and documentation of standard procedures, design standardization, and engineering change notices.
  • Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications.
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults.
  • Participate in cross functional teams, failure investigations and corrective action/preventive actions.

 

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide engineering solutions for other departments as required and resolve problems with components and products with only limited supervision.
  • Assist other departments as necessary by providing either CAD, mechanical drafting or free-hand artwork for internal company use.

 

Electromechanical Focus Areas

  • SolidWorks 3D CAD
  • Experience in mechanical or circuit simulation a plus.
  • Analog, Digital, Mixed Signal Design
  • Schematic Capture and Circuit board Layout
  • Soldering
  • Automated Test Fixture Development
  • Embedded motion control
  • Magnetic actuators, motors, encoders, sensors.
  • Plastic molding
  • 3D printing

 

Manufacturing Focus Areas

  • Process documentation. (Design, Test, Manufacturing)
  • Process flow and optimization.
  • Statistical Analysis
  • Kaizen events

 

Computer Engineering Focus Areas

  • Knowledge and experience in C/C++/C# / Python programming languages.
  • Experience in developing and implementing firmware for embedded processors.
  • Support existing Graphical User Interface programs and/or create/modify them to communicate with Electroswitch controllers using serial interfaces.
    • Desired experience would include VB.NET /C# programming with WinForms and WPF, with emphasis on threading and serial communication.
    • Python experience in creating GUI and business logic is a plus.
    • Embedded Linux experience is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk onto the shop floor.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Primary Office environment and Secondary Manufacturing.
