We are seeking a full-time Junior Estimator for our building group where we specialize in high-end residential construction. We’re very willing to train a candidate who may lack estimating experience but is detail-oriented, enjoys design and construction, and is excited about a growth opportunity.
The Junior Estimator will work closely with other Estimators, and interact with Project Managers and Site Supervisors, to obtain material and labor pricing, and organize information for customer review and proposals. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, helping with the following:
- Review design drawings and specifications to determine work scope, quantities, potential discrepancies, and gaps in information.
- Obtain subcontractor bids and material and labor quotes. Monitor timeliness of bid submissions and issue reminders prior to bid dates.
- Prepare subcontractor bid submission tracking sheets with name, bid amount, bid date, and revisions.
- Compare subcontractor bids per trade for scope, cost, and exclusions.
- Attend subcontractor site walkthroughs prior to bid, and help record questions and answers.
- Periodically visit jobsites to assist the Estimators, Project Managers, and Site Supervisors with project coordination tasks.
- Organize, monitor, and update material selections using Excel workbooks with embedded product images and descriptions. This process enables customers to easily see and approve their choices.
- Prepare sketches, floor plans, or 3D images on small projects without a designer or architect.
- Track and document customer purchases being delivered to Jaxtimer’s office.
- Photograph in-progress and completed projects.
- Create portfolios in various categories with photos of details and finishes used on completed projects.
