Dooling and Company Architects – Architecture Co-op

While working at Dooling and Company Architects, you have an opportunity to experience every aspect of design and construction, as well as the business side of running a small architecture firm. This is a unique opportunity to have a high-level view of the inner workings of an architecture office that specializes in multi-family housing. The firm places a high value on communication, and ascertaining that all parties are aligned with integrity.

The company is located 8 miles from Wentworth, and is easily accessible by public transport via the Green Line (Newton Highlands), MBTA Commuter Rail (Newtonville), and express bus from Copley Square to Newton Corner.

Working hours are negotiable for commuting preferences, but will otherwise add up to full-time.

Due to the nature of working for a small office, the ideal candidate must be comfortable in a multi-faceted role, where activities vary greatly from day to day. Often changing rapidly from morning to afternoon. Candidates are encouraged to carve out a role for themselves that is both aligned with their career goals and that of the Company.

Roles may include, but are not limited to:

· Visits to job sites with Architects and subsequent drafting of field reports to be sent to owners, contractors, and building officials

· Researching companies and contacts to pursue new business opportunities

· Written and verbal communication with clients, contractors, developers, and building officials.

· Vested interest in maintaining the organization and functioning of both physical and digital office systems

· Make business decisions with integrity, looking out for both the short-term and long term interests of all involved parties.

Required Skills

· Strong interpersonal skills, and comfortable in client-facing roles, including job meetings, visits to building officials, and phone calls to clients, contractors, and developers.

· Experience with BIM and 2D drafting programs, including AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, and others.

· 3D rendering capabilities, with an emphasis on integrating surrounding site context

· Experience with Adobe Suite, especially Photoshop

· Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills

· Impeccable organizational skills to track time, ingoing and outgoing communication, project filing, and project status

· Ability to work both well with others, and autonomously.

· Comfortable using AI for rendering, to check calculations and communication, then independently verify the same
