The Facilities Manager / Trade Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and well-organized management of The Concord Museum’s buildings and campus. This position requires strong technical knowledge of building systems, particularly HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and overall building management systems, as well as proven experience coordinating inspections, preventive maintenance, and vendor services. The Facilities Manager reports to the Interim Executive Director and works collaboratively with staff, contractors, and vendors to maintain, protect, and enhance the Museum’s physical spaces and grounds.
The successful candidate must possess exceptional organizational skills, personable communication abilities, and strong problem-solving aptitude. They should be able to manage complex scheduling, build positive relationships with vendors, and ensure high standards of service delivery and compliance with safety and industry regulations. This role also requires the ability to align facilities operations with the Museum’s mission and programming.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily building operations and maintenance, ensuring reliability of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, safety systems, and other building management systems.
- Coordinate and schedule inspections, vendors, and contractors, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal codes.
- Perform and/or supervise repairs, preventive maintenance, and seasonal projects on both the interior and exterior, including grounds and snow removal.
- Proactively evaluate and improve maintenance practices to support the long-term sustainability of building systems and operations.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely, high-quality service.
- Maintain accurate schedules and records for inspections, compliance checks, and recurring work orders.
- Conduct regular safety audits and provide emergency management and safety training to staff.
- Manage contracted custodial services, key distribution, and serve on the security team for alarms and monitoring.
- Provide support for exhibit preparation and updates to special gallery spaces, as well as facilities-related needs for events and programming.
- Manage the capital budget, monitor unexpected expenses, and partner with Advancement on grant opportunities and capital projects.
- Oversee outsourced IT services, including phone systems, vendor coordination, and long-term IT/cybersecurity planning.
- Liaise with the Building and Facilities Committee as an active staff member.
