Cardinal Capital Group is looking to add to our team to support the continued growth of the services and construction loan portfolio.
The Associate Asset Management will be responsible for managing construction draw activity across an assigned portion of the loan portfolio. This is a borrower-facing role requiring strong communication, organization, construction knowledge, and the ability to make sound decisions within established lending guidelines.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable managing a high volume of active projects, communicating directly with borrowers and contractors, reviewing construction progress and documentation, and delivering difficult news when a request cannot be approved as submitted.
We are looking for someone who can balance providing a high level of service to our borrowers with protecting the health of the loan portfolio.
What You Will Do
- Manage construction draw requests for an assigned portfolio from submission through funding
- Serve as a primary point of contact for borrowers regarding draw requests, inspections, documentation, funding requirements, and outstanding items
- Review inspection reports, construction budgets, borrower requests, invoices, lien waivers, photos, and other supporting documentation
- Evaluation construction progress against the approved budget and identify discrepancies, potential cost overruns, stalled projects, or other areas of concern
- Cleary communicate when a request cannot be funded as submitted and explain what is required to move the request forward
- Work collaboratively with borrowers to find reasonable solutions while remaining within company and investor guidelines
- Coordinate inspections and maintain consistent follow-up to keep draw requests moving efficiently
- Maintain accurate records and data within TrustPoint, Google Sheets, and other internal systems
- Escalate potential portfolio risks or unusual situations to Asset Management leadership
- Maintain a high level of responsiveness and ownership over assigned loans
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
- Construction, real estate lending, project management, or related experience preferred
- General understanding of residential construction and construction budgets
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree preferred

- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple active requests and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and due diligence
- Comfortable learning and working within technology platforms, particularly Google Sheets and web-based loan management systems
- Strong communicator: Comfortable having difficult conversations and delivering unfavorable decisions professionally
- Able to exercise judgment independently while knowing when an issue should be escalated
