Are you interested in how buildings operate, with respect to automatic control systems for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment (and more)? Would you like to design control systems utilizing a network of controllers, sensors, valves, and actuators, utilizing your engineering knowledge of control and mechanical systems? This position may be for you. Whether working on a project for a brand-new building being built from the ground up or replacing an outdated existing control system in an older facility, you will utilize your engineering skills to design systems that control the comfort of the buildings. You may even drive by a building someday and be able to say, I designed the control system in that building!
Working in both new and existing buildings for a diverse set of clients, Burnell Controls designs, installs, and maintains systems that control the comfort of buildings (schools, universities, commercial, government…etc) using a network of advanced digital controllers and sensors. Burnell Controls is a medium size company successfully in business for almost three decades, currently with a full‐time team of around 25 (engineers, programmers, technicians, electricians, service, admin, HR.etc), headquartered in Danvers, MA, 18 miles north of historic Boston. Duties
- Project Design (Primary Responsibilities)
o Designs automatic temperature control systems and creates control system drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment details using AutoCAD while adhering to company standards and material/labor budgets
o Develops sequences of operations for how mechanical equipment should operate, which are then passed onto the inhouse programming team for programming
o Researches mechanical equipment and 3rd party interfaces for integration into automatic temperature control system
o Organizes and assembles bill of materials/product data sheets for project submittal
o Documents progress changes to control drawings
o Orders material for projects
o Support projects (interface with project managers, programmers, technicians, electricians, other contractors…etc)
o Stays up to date with latest technology
o Other duties as required
- User Interface Development and System Configuration (Secondary Responsibilities)
o Creates graphic representation of mechanical equipment utilizing industry standard software (Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Vykon…etc)
o Develops user interface, including mobile user interface
o Configures controller databases
o Programs controllers to specified sequence of operation
o Creates floor plans (Using AutoCAD)
