American Floor Covering — Built on Quality. Driven by Innovation. Powered by People.
About the Role:
As an entry-level Project Manager, you’ll start managing smaller projects right away, with support from our experienced team. You’ll coordinate schedules, track budgets, communicate with clients and field teams, and make sure materials and information are where they need to be — when they need to be there. You’ll begin learning the flooring, tile, and stone trades in detail, so you can understand the work as well as you manage it. You’ll quote smaller projects and change orders, gaining a deeper understanding of scope, pricing, and value. This is a hands-on role designed to help you grow quickly and become a strong, reliable leader on our project management team.
Core Responsibilities:
• Take Ownership Early: You’ll start running smaller projects right away – with support from our team – so you can learn by doing.
• Manage Project Budgets: Compare actual costs to budgeted costs, track added work and change orders, and review project financials weekly to ensure accuracy and profitability.
• Own the Schedule: Always know what’s next, push the team to stay on track, and proactively solve problems to ensure we never miss a deadline.
• Drive Quality: Hold yourself and our field teams accountable to AFC’s standard of “zero punch list” – getting it right the first time.
• Procure Materials: Order materials and coordinate deliveries so our crews always have what they need, when they need it.
• Support the Field: Create clear work orders, installation documents, and details so our installers can execute efficiently.
• Handle Submittals: Process and manage submittals and approvals so we can place orders on time and keep projects moving.
• Prioritize Safety: Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Help ensure our safety standards are upheld on every project and contribute to a culture where safety is second nature.
• Communicate Constantly: Keep clients, vendors, and our internal team informed – no surprises, no excuses.
• Support Exceptional Client Experiences: Help deliver projects that make clients want to work with AFC again. Your goal is to be part of the team that’s seen as the best subcontractor on the job.
Key Qualities:
• Eagerness to Learn: You’re not expected to know it all — but you must be committed to learning fast and digging into the details of our trade and systems.
• Ownership Mentality: Take responsibility, seek solutions, follow through, and always ask, “What else can I do?”
• Strong Communicator: Able to clearly and respectfully communicate with team members, clients, and vendors.
• Emotional Intelligence: Stay calm under pressure, receive feedback well, and be a supportive teammate.
• Growth-Oriented: Never be satisfied with “good enough.” Constantly seek ways to improve yourself, the team, and the company.
• Team First: Respect and support your teammates, hold yourself and others accountable, and take pride in contributing to a culture where people help each other succeed.
• Accountability & Integrity: Do the right thing, do your best, and show others you care.
