We are currently seeking a motivated and talented Electrical Engineering Co-op to join our team. The co-op will work with an experienced Electrical Engineer to help provide engineering support for projects, primarily focusing on power distribution and lighting systems for laboratory, office, data center, hospital, and various other types of buildings.
Seeking college engineering students:
- Want to learn from senior MEP Engineers in HVAC, Plumbing, Fire & Protection, Electrical and Sustainability
- Able to work in the fall or spring semester in either the Boston (on public transport) or Burlington, MA (would require vehicle) offices.
- Want a full-time work for the semester (40 hours paid)
What You’ll Do
The Electrical Engineering Co-op will work closely with our team of experienced electrical engineers to support various design and consulting projects. The co-op will gain hands-on experience in the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems for buildings, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and security systems. The co-op will also assist with drafting, calculations, and project coordination. Work is done via computer with some site visits.
- Preparing plans using AutoCAD or Revit (mostly)
- Assist with electrical design and analysis for building systems
- Perform calculations to support electrical design, including lighting calculations using computer software (Litepor, AGI, or Visual)
- Assist with drafting and documentation of electrical systems
- Coordinate with project team members to ensure successful project completion
- Attend project meetings and participate in project discussions
- Prepare information for inclusion in engineering reports, construction phase, and research industry standards for engineering guidelines
What you need:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- A high level of interest with MEP systems relating to construction
- Strong initiative and problem solving abilities
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC) and power engineering concepts a plus
